Gold Cup: Mexico in semi -finals with Saudi Arabia shutout

Defending champion Mexico found scoring touch in the second half and upgraded the ConcacAF Gold Cup semi-finals on Saturday night with a 2–0 win over Saudi Arabia in Eries.

Honduras will face Honduras in Santa Clara, California on Wednesday in the semi -finals from Mexico. Honduras dropped Panama 1–1 after a 1–1 draw after a 1–1 draw in a quarter-finals in Glandale with a 5–4 lead in a penalty kick.

Alexis Vega received Mexico in the 49th minute after stopping his initial shot by Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi. Vega put in the rebound and after a VAR review, the target was confirmed that there was no violation.

Abdullah Madu of Saudi Arabia tried to re-create the Mexico’s crossing pass in the 81st minute, but instead put his goalkeeper for a goal and 2–0 shortage.

Mexico controlled 60.3 percent of the time of occupation against Saudi Arabia and was reflected in more shot efforts (18–1), shots (5–0) and corner kick (7–2).

Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper Al-Aqidi made four savings, while Angel Malagon in Mexico had no one.

Mexico moved forward with a 3–2 win over Dominican Republic via group stage, winning Suriname’s 2–0 shutouts and a scorer with Costa Rica with seven points with Draw Group A.

Saudi Arabia defeated Haiti 1–0, lost 1–0 to the United States and finished second in Group D 1–1 to Tinidad and Tobago.
