Gold Cup: Honduras tightened Group B to top L Salvador

Romel Quiyoto scored in the 33rd minute and Dixon Ramirez watched the game with the second half stop-time goal to defeated Lalwador 1–0 in the Seencaf Gold Cup play in Houston on Saturday night.

With 1–1 draw with Canada in the day before 1-1 of Curacao, Honduras’ victory actually blocked Group B Standing with a match before the knockout stage.

Honduras improved by 1–1-0 and sits a digit behind Canada with three digits. Kuracao is two back with two draws and is a point of El Salvador (0-1-1). No team has created a place in the knockout round as all four squads have a shot in finishing with at least four digits.

Canada will face Al Salvador next Tuesday, while Honduras will take Kuracao.

Quioto opened scoring at a Nifty Give-And-Go with Edwin Rodriguez. After passing the ball to Rodriguez from inside the midfield, Quiyoto moved towards the net and divided two guards. Rodriguez hit her in a stride with a pass and Quoto buried the shot from inside the box. This was the team’s first goal of the tournament after beating Canada 6–0 in the opener on Tuesday.

Al Salvador pressurized the attempt to achieve the goal of binding, Yestin Arboleda made a crossing attempt from inside the Honduras box, which sent the ball to Ramparez. He then participated in the field, got the previous goalkeeper Mario Gonzalez – who was playing in the midfield – and scored in the empty net in the fifth minute of the stop time to remove the game easily.
