“Go to be a captain, don’t be foolish all around”: Dinesh Karthik stumped stumps during the nets session

As Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), an Indian Premier League (IPL) against Delhi’s capitals, reach the capital for the 2025 match, so former Delhi franchise member Dinesh Karthik also. On the eve of the competition between the two sides, Karthik met DC Captain Axar Patel, while batting later in the nets. A brief meeting and greeting between the two turned into Karthik, reminding that he was a captain and should focus on batting practice in the nets.

RCB Mentor’s message was RCB mentor’s message for DC Skipper, “Please don’t joke. Here is how the conversation took place:

Exer Patel: Dk bhai ko hello toh toh bolunga na. (I would call my brother Namaste, DK)

Dinesh Karthik: Go to be a captain.

Exer Patel: Hey DK brother, brother ho man aaP. (You are my brother, DK)

Dinesh Karthik: Eh tu khel na dar. Mazak mat kar. Nahi Ata near the main net. (You go and bat, don’t be foolish all around. That’s why I do not come near the trap).

Both teams have a well-rounded look and reflect by having 12 points of them-although DC is ahead of RCB on the basis of net run rate and loses less. RCB has won six of its ten meetings against DC in New Delhi, both teams have literally neck neck how they have gone about their business in batting and bowling.

According to Cricket-21 data, RCB has a better strike-vet (161) and run-vet in batting power-play compared to DC (155 and 9.3 respectively), which is brilliant in a large form of Virat Kohli and Devdatta Padikal. But when it comes to batting in the overs of middle and death, DC has the upper hand.

With the shelling of KL Rahul, Axer Patel, Triston Stabs and Ashutosh Sharma, DC has a strike-rate of 152, and a run-vet of 9.1 in the middle over, which RCB has more than the stage (139 and 8.3) respectively. In the last five overs, DC’s strike-rate is a huge 205 and run-vet at 12.3, again more than RCB numbers (190 and 11.4 respectively).

When both these teams met at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium last time, Rahul’s 93 not out and an unbeaten 38, 38 from Stabs, after losing three wickets in Powerplay, put DC out of trouble and put him on the way for a surprising victory.
