Glenn Maxwell to get another chance by Shreyas Iyer?

Punjab Kings (PBK) have 11 points after nine IPL 2025 matches and currently ranks fifth on the IPL 2025 points table.

In an attempt to strengthen its qualification opportunities for the IPL 2025 playoffs, Punjab Kings (PBK) faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 30 April (Wednesday). The tournament started with two back-to-back win for PBK, but then lost two of their next three matches. Now, he is standing fifth on the IPL points table, washed due to continuous rain in his final match.

PBKS Batting-Order: Shreyas Iyer needs to set fire

Two uncomfortable talents, Prabhasimran Singh and Priyash Arya have been unprecedented for PBKs. In fact, their opening partnership tally is 360 runs (average 40.00), the best by any pair for PBK so far. Therefore, PBK has not been spent so much as Shreyas Iyer’s recent recession.

Iyer, who started the tournament with a blast, looked at a minor nose in his form, scored just 139 runs in his seven matches. The 139 includes an innings of 82 runs which he made against SRH. Otherwise, five of these innings saw him out on a single point score. Iyer would like to do well in Chennai, where he is an average of above 30 in the IPL.

Glenn Maxwell Dilemma

The rest of the middle-order should also remain the same, including Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh and Josh Englandis. However, Glenn will be the largest question mark in place of Maxwell. Ricky Ponting likes to love Maxwell on his behalf, like most Australian players but former RCB all -rounders have been very poor so far.

The fact is that Marco Jansen has scored more runs than Maxwell, a worrying sign. 4.80 crore players have scored an average of 8.00 on an average 48 runs and even at a strike rate below 98 in six innings. He was dropped in favor of Marcus Stoinis, which is also a terrible form.

The question is, will Ponting and Iyer Maxwell come back once again? The answer can be yes, given that he offers a great value as an off-spinner. With several Left in the CSK team, Maxwell can be a dark horse with his bowling. Also against CSK, Maxwell has a strike rate 188.61 After scoring 361 runs in 15 matches. Apart from that, Pbks also played Azmatullah Omarjai in the previous game to prolong their batting order. He is likely to continue given that the third choice will be the pace-bouling option.

Yuzvendra Chahal effect as player?

Although there are only four expert bowlers on paper, all four are the real matches in themselves. Two left -handed pacers, Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen are the backbone of PBKS bowling. He has taken 19 wickets at the bowling strike rate of 18.05. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal will be exciting to watch the matchup against Shivam Dubey and Developed Brevis.

Given that the match will be played in Chepack, PBK is likely to continue as another spin-bouncing option with Harpreet Brar. The left -arm orthodox spinner has bowled in just six overs so far, but has taken three wickets at the bowling strike rate of 12.0.
