George Russell hopes that Max Verustapane returns Mercedes despite rumors

George Russell believes that he will remain with Mercedes in 2026, even his boss Toto Wolf continued to open the possibility of chasing the Max Vastapane.
Russell claimed last week that his own contract talks were being held in Mercedes’ interest in the four -time defending formula 1 champion Verustapain for Red Bull.
In Sky Sports’ comments, Wolf refused to delay Russell’s conversation, announcing that it was his responsibility that “the four -time world champions in the future were going to do.”
Russell met the British Grand Prix ahead of the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit in his original England on Thursday, where he said the possibility is “exceptionally low” that he is not running for Mercedes next year.
“I am focusing on my behalf, I am loyal to Mercedes,” Russell said. “So at the end of the day, everything will work on its own.”
Russell is fourth in the championship race after winning the Canadian Grand Prix with fifth place in Austria last week. The 27 -year -old came in 2017 through Mercedes’ Junior Program and operated full -time for his F1 team since 2022.
Their contract is due to the end of the season, and there is speculation that Mercedes can replace her with Verustapen, with her other an 18 -year -old Andrea Kimi Antonally.
“I mean, two seats are available in each team, and it is normal that every team is considering what the future is,” Russell said. “… and I do not take it personally, because I made it clear from the beginning that I am happy to be a team partner with someone. Surely there are conversations and rumors, it has been pointed to me, but it is not a matter from my side.
“I want to continue with Mercedes in the future. The fact that Toto has never disappointed me, has always given me his word, and that too is right for his team, including thousands of people working for me and Mercedes.”
Toto Wolf’s word, late, focuses on Vastapane and defending his interest in the Dutch superstar, saying that it is “normal” to interact with his caliber drivers.
“You give it the sound in such a way that we are asking (Vastapane), ‘When do you want to join and what are the words?” It is not how it is and how it works, “Wolf told a reporter on Wednesday.
“I just want to interact behind the closed doors, not the town hall. And we have two drivers who have been in our program for a long time, the driver who has been fully happy to me, the driver who will do very well in the future of the team. So it’s a bit different, the situation.”
