Francisco Cerendolo Downs Top Seed Alexander Zverev in Madrid

20 Seed Francisco Cerendolo on Tuesday dismissed Germany’s top seed Alexander Zerev 7-5, 6-3 to proceed to the quarter-finals of Madrid Open.

Cerundolo defeated Zerev for the second consecutive year in a round of 16 at this ATP Masters 1000 event. He is 3–0 against Zeverev, including a quarterfinal win over Buenos Aires before this season.

“I am super happy because I know he likes to play here. He told me last year when I defeated him,” Sarendolo said after the match. “He is an incredible player. I have a great relationship with him, so Super Happy to win another win and live again in the quarter -finals.”

Cendolo won 50 of its 70 total service points (71.4 percent) and went to 7 -for -7 on the NET points. Zverev managed only six winners with 23 unexpected errors.

After ending Zeverev’s seven -match winning line, Serendollo’s next task will face check number 22 Seed Jakub Mannenic, which is on a nine -match winning line for his ATP 1000 title in Miami last month.

Mennsic provoked Alexander Bublian of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-2 in his round of 16 matches in just 56 minutes. Bubliel was asked to the chair umpire on camera, “Remember when tennis was easy? … Now this man (Mensic) is not even the top 5, not even the top 10. (Executive) is that?”

In the same region of the draw, Russia’s number 9 Seed Daniel Medvedev lagged the previous US number 31 Brandon Nakashima 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Medvedev reached the quarter -finals and will face the winner between US number 3 Seed Taylor Fritz and Norway’s No. 14 Casper Rood. Fritz and Rud were the last men’s matches at Dock for Tuesday.

The remaining matches were in a period of 32 cases on Tuesday, as the tournament plays a catch-up after a nationwide power outage on Monday, which disrupts the event.

The British number 5 Seed Jack Draper proceeded when his opponent, number 30 Seed Matteo Beretini retired after Italy’s Draper, took the first set 7-6 (2).

Australian Sixth Seed Alex D Minaur defeated Canadian number 29 Dennis Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (3), while Italy’s No. 10 Lorenzo Musti topped 17 Stephanos Tsitips of Greece 7-5, 7-6 (3).

Two and American moved forward in 16, when number 11 seed Tommy Paul extended Russia’s 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, and number 16 Seed Frances Tiafo to French Alexandre Muller 6-3, 6-3.

Canadian lucky Gabriel Dialo survives when he charged the Great Britain’s Cameron Nori 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
