Four players shared the first round lead at Mexico Riviera Maya Open

Bianka Pagdanganan of the Philippines, on Sunday, left the first hole during the Croger Queen City Classic in Cincinnati, on 22 September, 2024.

Brian Doo, Japan’s Chisato Evai, Jenny Shin of South Korea and Bianka Pagdanganan of the Philippines shot 4-under-park 68 on Friday to share the first round lead at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open in Maykoba in Maykoba.

Doo birds two of their first four holes in the El Camlene Golf Course in Playa del Carmen, then with an eagle -5 with an eagle on the fifth hole with an eagle. He bogged the Par-4th Ninth Hole to close an incidental front nine, then added a shower to his final hole.

“I landed for a very hot start,” Du said after starting her season. “I think I was 4-inner through 5, so it helped a lot.

“And then I kept it very stable. I think the back nine plays a little harder than the front, and so just giving itself an opportunity on the back and then finishing with a shirt on 18.”

Among the fours tied over the leaderboard, Shin ended with the most Budies-but also posted a bogie at number 5 and also a double bogie on Par-4 16th hole.

However, Shin was capable of recovering with back-to-back beady to close his round. Overall, his five birdies came to nine despite a temperature of 91 degrees.

“I really don’t remember because it’s so hot,” Shin said, who noted 27 puts. “I don’t remember the first Bardi. But, yes, some good shots and some bad people hit, so a double bogie at 16.”

Meanwhile, Ivai and Pagdangan collected five shovedies and a bogey every day. Pagdangan’s bogie came to number 16, but she was strong with a shirt at number 18.

“It looked like a very easy phase, which I honestly did not feel in a while,” said Pagdanganan. “It feels really nice to be able to get out of here. I hit a lot of greens, not a lot of fairways. … I had a very clear headspace.”

Five players-Jenny Ba, Germany’s Olivia Cowan and Allen Craut, South Korea’s Hi-Jin Choi and Japan’s Minami Katsu-Ne A Opening-Nound 5-Einer 69 left a shot after shooting.
