Former NBA all-star Demarkus cousin was suspended by a Puerto Rico Basketball League and his contract was canceled after igniting a dispute early this week.
The Balcasto Superior National League also fined the cousin $ 4,250, and according to the League, he could be subject to another fine of $ 5,570.
The incident took place on Monday when cousin Guanabo was playing on the road for Mets.
“As an organization, we condemn any kind of violence or provocation, whether it is on the field. Security, honor and sports skills are non-conventional values for this franchise,” Mets said in a news release.
The situation began with the exchange of words with a fan with a cousin with a fan, before he would hold his crotch while walking towards the court seats. The cousin then grabbed the arm of the fan as things quickly increased.
The teammates tried to pull the cousin and other fans started insulting the cousin. After being evicted, the cousins were surrounded by fluids because he had gone out of the floor. Security tried to go to the stand and dealt with him at a point to catch him back.
The 34 -year -old cousin, playing in Puerto Rico for the second time, was 18.2 points and 9.0 rebound average playing in the top Pro Basketball League. He also played in the league in 2023.
The cousin has not played in NBA since the 2021-22 season. He was a four-time all-star in 11 sessions, but his career derailed with two major injuries.
In January 2018, he maintained an Akilis tendon injury with New Orleans Pelican. After returning to play 30 games for Golden State Warriors in the next season, he tore ACL in his left knee as a member of Los Angeles in August 2019 and missed the entire season.
The cousin played for seven NBA teams, with the best part of his career from 2010–17 with Sacramento Kings, he had 6 1/2 season. He finished third in the Ruki of the Year polling in 2011 after being a fifth overall pick from Kentki.
Overall, the cousin took an average of 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds in 654 Games (starting 561).
