After the two club closure in the last two weeks due to international breaks, New England Revolution and FC Cincinnati will meet on Saturday night in Foxboro, Mass.
FC Cincinnati (9-5-3, 30 points) finished second in the Eastern Conference despite failing to win the Toronto FC on 14 May. Cincinnati is 0–2–2 in its last four matches and on 31 May DC United is disappointing for domestic damage 2–1.
“We know that we need to do more. We all know that this is not the place where we should be, and it is like a wake-up call for us, for all,” said FC Cincinnati Midfielder Obino Novobodo. “We are very good to be in this position. We need to make it right.”
In addition to losing to DC United at home, Cincinnati took a two goal against FC Dallas at home three days before settling for 3-3 draws.
On Saturday, there will be a second match between Cincinnati and New England this season, with a 1-0 win at home on April 5.
Revolution (6–4–5, 23 digits), however, are undefeated in nine matches (5–0-4) since that match. On Saturday consecutive three-consecutive domestic matches will mark their first three MLS regular-season competitions and a US Open Cup match on the road.
New England coach Kaleb Porter said, “We understand, if you see how tight the table is, if we win some games here, we are not only going to shoot in a playoff situation, but perhaps the top four if we take care of the business in the month of June,” said New England coach Kaleb Porter.
Revolution will see a regular-season sweep against FC Cincinnati to avoid a rival, a rival who had not been washed away since Cincinnati joined MLS in 2019.
