Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf are likely to earn a PCB central contract

Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf are expected to appear in the Central Contract List of Pakistan Cricket Board for the 2025-26 season after being demolished last year. The PCB delayed the announcement of central contracts till October last year, although the contracts run from 1 July to 30 June. These three players were excluded from the previous list due to poor performance and fitness issues, but their impressive performance in the Pakistan Super League brought them back.

A source in the board said, “PCB management and national selectors have already started discussions on players to be given new central contracts in July.”

The source said that the top artists and some young players in the domestic circuit will also be included in the ‘D’ category with encouragement.

However, some other players may lose their contracts due to simple performance in the last 7-8 months.

The PCB and senior players agreed to the three -year financial structure for central contracts in 2023 and is the final year of the current model.

The source said, “There is no chance of any increase in monthly retainers or match fees. The financial model will remain the same for 2025-26 and is not satisfied with the performance of the PCB team.”

The current list of central contract players includes Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the top category.

Nasim Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shaan Masood are in category B while Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Namn Ali, Sim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel and Shadab Khan are in Category C.

Category D players are Aamir Jamal, Hasibullah, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Hurrera, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Wasim Junior and Usman Khan. PTI Core DDV
