Faith Kipayagan, Beatrice Chebet set world records at prefontaine classic

Two weeks after becoming the first woman to record a sub-four-minute mile, Kenai Faith Capgon broke her own world record in the 1,500 meter race of women with a time of 3: 48.68 at Eugene, Ore’s Prephonteen Classic on Saturday.
This time was 0.36 seconds better than the previous record-setting mark of 3: 49.04 recorded in July 2024.
What is more, CPGon was not a loan Kenai to set a world record on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the Beatrice Chebet wins 5,000 from Ethiopia’s former record-holder Gudf Tsege, 13: 58.06 became the first woman to finish the distance in less than 14 minutes with a time of 13: 58.06. Tsege stood third behind Cabet and Kenya’s agnes’s pocket Nagtich.
Tsegay set the last best time of 14: 00.21 in September 2023, as well as in the Havard Field in Eugene. With the end of its Saturday, Cabette now owns five out of the 10 best times recorded in women’s 5,000.
