Edison Barson hit three couples, scored two runs and made one of Toronto’s several sterling defensive plays as Blue Jais defeated hosts Seattle Meriners on Friday 6-3 in a three-game opener.

Blue Jais Starter Kevin Gausamman (3-3) allowed three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, with no walking and three strikes. Jeff Hoffman killed three in the ninth for his eighth sev.
