East-South Africa star criticized Virat Kohli’s batting, Rohit Sharma says ‘more technically right’




Former South Africa cricket team Batter Herschel Gibbs believes that Rohit Sharma is ‘more technically correct’ than Virat Kohli and explained his pick with an example. Gibbs recently resorted to social media to talk about the batting techniques of both star batsmen and stated a big difference between them. Responding to a social media post, where the user compared the shots played by both of them, Gibbs gave his opinion. “Rohit was always more technically correct than Virat. But Virat’s desire to dominate, especially in the white ball format, is a major difference between 2 batsmen.” He wrote on X.

“You ever see Rohit protecting the balls on the 4 or 5th stump? How many times Virat did this? Rohit is definitely better than Virat.” He said.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devjit Saikia on Wednesday confirmed that Star India batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will remain in grade A+ category despite retiring from T20 and tests.

Earlier in April, the BCCI announced the annual player retainship 2024-25, where Kohi and Rohit were placed in the grade A+ category with right-handed seamor Jasprit Bumrah and Left-Arme Spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Devjit Saikia told ANI, “Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Grade A+ Contract T20 Eye and will continue despite the retirement from the Test. They are still part of the Indian cricket team, and they will get all the facilities of Grade A+.”

Next to the five-match England tour, which will kickstart India’s ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign, Virat shocked the cricket world by announcing his retirement from the format, portraying the curtain for a 14-year-long, 123-match big career.

In his test career, the 36 -year -old performed 123 in white clothes, scoring an average of 46.85 to score 31 fifty and 254*in 30 centuries and 210 innings. He is India’s fourth largest run-run-goldter, in the format behind Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Rahul Dravid (13,265 runs), and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs).

On 7 May, Rohit declared his retirement from Test cricket after 67 Tests and 11 years of career, beyond England Tour, Kikstart from India’s ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle from June 20.

He scored an average of 4,301 runs in 40.57 with 12 centuries and 18 fifties. His highest score of 212 came in 2019 during a memorable home series against South Africa. He ended as the 16th largest run-run in India for the longest time.

In 2024, after the completion of the T20 World Cup, Virat and Rohit declared their retirement from the smallest international format.
