“Don’t do your heart out”

Mohammad Siraj has played 37 Tests in his career, and has taken only 102 wickets at an average of 31.

For quite some time now, Mohammed Siraj has been under-performing in Test cricket, and yet is the go-to choice for the management. Despite picking up 19 wickets in Australia, he was just very expensive. In the England series as well, he hasn’t started very well either. Now, former India batter Mohammad Kaif has criticised Siraj’s bowling.

MOhammad Kaif Not Happy with Mohammed Siraj

In the entire match he picked up two wickets, and his economy was 4.50. In short, in 41 overs, he was poor, and could not support the team, when Jasprit Bumrah wasn’t able to pick up wickets in the second innings. “People say Mohammed Siraj tried very hard, bowls with his heart. Sir, don’t bowl with your heart, bowl with your mind and with line and length where we can get wickets,” said Kaif on his YouTube channel.

If Only India Had Shami & Ishant

He then spoke about what England did right in their chase. “Why didn’t Bumrah take wickets in the second innings? It’s because the batters played defensively. They attacked Krishna, Shardul, and Siraj. Gameplan becomes very easy when you know Bumrah will bowl 4-5 overs, play him well,” Kaif said.

Kaif also added, had there been Ishant Sharma in the series, along with Shami and Bumrah, then India could have won the England series. “In the same bowling lineup, you give him (Gill) Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Bumrah. I guarantee you Gill will win this Test series. Those are the bowlers who know how to take 20 wickets,” Kaif concluded.
