“Destiny in our own hands”: KKR star Rowman Powell’s clear statement amidst the playoff race

Kolkata Knight Riders all -rounder Roveman Powell said on Saturday that the team is still excited despite a challenging season, emphasizing that their fate is still in his hands as they look at the latest speed in the IPL. Defending Champions have won only four matches out of their 10 matches and should win all four remaining fixtures to make the playoffs. They face the Rajasthan Royals already done in an important tie here on Saturday.

“At the beginning of the competition, this is a situation we do not want to find ourselves, but our destiny is still in our own hands, it is a good place. The team is gallling well. It is just for us to take a game at a time.”

Accepting his Pachi campaign so far, Powell said that now attention is firm on the present and future rather than the past.

“It plays better cricket at this point. Whatever happened first in the first half of the competition is history. We all know that IPL is one with a team that gains the back-end of the competition and if we can do this, we give ourselves the best opportunity to be champions again.” The batting is the Akilis heel of KKR this season, in which prominent players like Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Andre Russell are struggling to find continuity.

However, Powell pointed to the team’s ability to post more than three 200 yoga, despite the indifferent form a positive sign.

“This is an exciting batting unit. To see that we have scored 200 on some occasions and many of our batsmen have not done what they want to do – you know, from a batting point of view, it is to improve every game for us.

“The last game is a good will to show that he has worked hard in the last eight or so many sports. Hopefully we can have a trend as a batting group.” Powell damaged Punjab Kings, where KKR failed to chase 112, as a twist, which turned his standing.

“Surely, you know, if we should go back and see the Punjab game when we got 112 to make, that game actually hurts us.

“It was really impressed by our standing in the table. If we had achieved those two points, we would have been sitting here with more smiles on our face. But we had conversations and people have made incredible progress, hopefully we can continue those progresses.” “You can’t be very desperate, you still have to rely on this process. It is not just a significant phase for us as a team, but it is an important stage for all teams, even the team that is currently in the top-four places.” On his dynamic with fellow Caribbean Big-Hitter Andre Russell, Powell explained the team’s strategic view for his batting order.

“This is more strategic than ever. When you see the team, it is built around the strong Indian batsmen in the middle. Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Captain Ajinkya Rahane – We have those people who get us in the middle.

“Young Angkrish (Raghuvanshi) has been excellent for us. We have Indian batsmen to bring us in the middle and then you try to add a little Caribbean Power in the last 5-4 overs.”

On the availability of Rahen after KKR Skipper injuring his right hand in his last match against Delhi Capital, Powell said there were encouraging signs.

“It is good that we have a few days from the previous game that he has been injured, so the medical team is working very hard with her. She has shown progressive reforms in the last few days.

“He started batting. So it is a good sign that it is going tomorrow. It is important for us. He has been one of our batsmen who have been a bright light in the entire competition so far.” Rahen was seen taking some throw-down in a medium practice session for the skipper. Tap on PTI
