D-Back Jolt cards constantly turn to Meril Kelly in the bid

Meril Kelly Arizona remains continuously for Diamondback as he tries to remain competitive in the National League West.
Kelly (5–2, 3.26 ERA) has allowed two out of eight out of eight of its 10 earned runs or less in this season. The right-handed batsman allowed just one run in 14 innings, while his final two started, and he scored 11 runs and made a hit in a 1-0 win on Colorado Rockies in his previous outing on Sunday.
Kelly will try rolling on Saturday afternoon when Diamondback continued her three-game series against cardinals at St. Louis.
However, Cardinals held the series opener for a 4–3 victory on Friday night. They improved at home at 17-8.
Kelly’s ineffective mound demonor has set a tone for Arizona rotation, with 23 quality this season.
“The continuation with their mentality,” said Diamondback Manager Tori Lovullo. “He is just super engaged and super ready, and (he) can flip the script and make the page as well as I know anyone. And this is maturity.”
36 -year -old Kelly picked up for four sessions in South Korea before breaking into a major league at the age of 30.
“This is my job at the end of the day – to execute a pitch at a time,” Kelly said. “Focus is that pitch, and then whatever happens with that pitch, whether it is good or bad, focus is the next pitch.
“Obviously, you take what the pitch gives you. Like, if it is not the pitch I tried to execute, there is something to learn from the pitch and something to use from that pitch.”
Kelly is 3–1, with six careers with 2.75 ERAs that begin against cardinals.
Diamondback, who has lost three straight games, made a roster adjustment before this series. He activated Justin Martinez from the 15-day injured list and sent partner right-handed Christian Montese de Oka to Triple-e Reno.
Cardinals lost three out of four matches before rebounding on Friday. They will turn to the left-handed Matthew Libertor (3-3, 2.92 ERA) to start Saturday’s game.
Libertor has allowed two runs or less in its last seven outings during its breakout campaign as a starter. In his most recent outing, he placed Royals on one run in six innings on Sunday in Canus City, but lost cardinals 2–1.
Libertor hit five and one went into without any decision.
“I think at any time you can get through six innings and leave a run, it’s a very good day,” said Libertor. “Obviously there are some things that I like to do better today, but the velocity was not as much as it was, and I felt that the command was not quite good.
“But Curlball came into the game today, and it became a real weapon for me, so that people could be kept away from other goods.”
This will be Libertor’s first career against Diamondback.
Cardinals are expected to bring back the first Basman Wilson Contrass in the lineup for Saturday’s game. Contrarasas, which leads the team with 28 RBI, had a late scratch from Friday’s lineup due to back cramps.
