Erizona Diamondback was out of a recession on Monday as Josh Niler bailed the walk-off Grand Slam to win 8–4 in 11 innings against Seattle Meriners.
Meriners will try to do so in the second competition of the three-game series in Phoenix on Tuesday.
Homer of his third hit Niler of the game helped the diamondback to snap the three-game losing streak.
“It was magical,” Arizona’s manager Tori Lovullo said about the victory.
Meriners scored four runs with two outs and there was no one in the ninth innings. He came vacant in the 10th and 11th innings, however, and lost for the sixth time in seven matches.
