The Chicago cub on Monday recalled Triple-e-Ioa to the third baseless Matt Shaw, while Infielder Nikki Lopez was nominated for assignment.
23 -year -old Shaw, 1.119 OPS, five homers, 10 RBI and Iowa were batting with 15 runs in their last 11 matches. He started the season with the cub and batted with one Homer, three RBI and 18 strikes in 18 matches.
The cub selected Shaw with the 13th overall pick in the 2023 draft of the University of Maryland.
The 30 -year -old Lopez was signed by the cub in February, released in March and then signed on 23 April after a short term with Los Angeles Angels.
Lopez was 1 -for -18 in 14 matches for the cub this season. In 686 games in seven sessions with five clubs, Lopez is a career. Seven home runs with 245 hitters and 153 RBI.
