CSK batting coach Mike Hussey’s ‘VR Not Going to the Panic’ comment ahead of RCB Clash in IPL

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Indian Premier League (IPL) may be dull at the bottom of the 2025 points table, but the batting coach Mike Hussey is left calm and convinced that there is no “nervousness” in the camp. On the eve of the CSK struggle against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the former Australian cricketer made it clear that the results did not go this season, while the franchise was not killing the panic button. Instead, Hussey believes that the team’s struggles have come down to “good margin”, and that are sufficiently positive, especially among young players, to suggest a bright future.

Hussey said, “We are definitely not nervous and everything is going to be thrown out just because it is not cured this year.” With only four points out of the 10 games, CSK has officially dropped out of the playoff controversy, but Hussey insisted that some strategic reforms could give up their fate.

“We certainly need to be streamlined on some areas,” he accepted.

Despite the position of CSK at the bottom of the table, Hussey insisted that the gap between winning and losing has been razor-lying in several encounters.

He said, “I can think at the top of my head that perhaps three games they would have won, and they might have been sitting somewhere near the top four,” they explained. “I really don’t think we’re far away.” The major issue, he vested, was not lacking talent, but there was inability to eliminate close games.

Hussey was confident of the current team’s ability to compete with the best. “We have found some matches winning players in that line-up,” he said, confirming the trust in the CSK core. While the five -time champion is allowed to go down with inconsistency and perhaps a little luck, Hussey’s message is clear: the team still has a firepower to challenge any opponent in the IPL.

In a difficult season, Hussey pointed young players such as Ayush Matre and Division Brevis as a silver lining. His performance has presented a glimpse of what the future can do for CSK.

“This is a great opportunity for some people to get a chance to play in the IPL. Hopefully, they can catch their opportunities and sideline their location in the squad for the next few years,” he said. For a franchise known for backing experience, this injection of youth can mark the beginning of a new era.

With four games still leaving, Hussey urged the team to focus on pride and speed of construction for the next season. He said, “Some wins and some players who have taken their opportunities, it would be fantastic by the end of the season,” he concluded.
