Cricket takes a tough stance on IPL 2026 extension to fly to BCCI as South Africa

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season has resulted in a major headache for the franchise due to the Indo-Pak struggle. While the Message of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is to bring back all foreign players to resume the League, Cricket South Africa asked its players to return home by 26 May, as the initial agreement was when the IPL final was to be held on 25 May. However, there is still no talks between the two owners of the boards.
Corbin Bosch (Mumbai Indians), Vian Malder (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Marco Jansen (Punjab Kings), Aden Markram (Lucknow Super Junts), Lungi Cash (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), Kagiso Ranada Tits) (Delhi Capital) have been declared on 13 May in South Africa.
As per the initial agreement, the BCCI is scheduled to release all foreign players on 26 May. However, as a modified schedule, even the league stage of the campaign will not end before 27 May, while the final is on 03 June.
South Africa’s head coach Shukri Konrad said on Tuesday, “The initial agreement with IPL and BCCI (May) was 25th, our players will return to 26th, so that it will give them enough time before flying on 30th.”
“This is the ongoing conversation that is taking place among people in a high salary grade, ie the director of cricket (Hanok NKWE) and Foleyti Moseki (CSA CEO), so they are working with it. But as it stands, we are not joining it, I don’t think our players are in 26th position.”
Cricket CSA Director Hanok NKway told Cricbuj, “We are still discussing with IPL and BCCI.”
However, some IPL franchisees may continue to enjoy the services of South African players, which are not part of the World Test Championship final against Australia. They are proteus stars:
Developed Bravis (a replacement player in Chennai Super Kings), FAF Do Plessis and Donovan Pharera (Delhi Capital), Gerald Koetzi (Gujarat Titans), Quinton de Coke and Enrich Nortje (Kolkata Knight Riders), David Miltna, Matthew Bernak (Lakkan Super Ginks), Matthew Bernak (Laqan Super Ginks) Pritorius (Rajasthan Royals) and Henriqu Klassen (Sunrisers Hyderabad).
WTC final-bound players have been asked to gather in Arundel (a city in England) on 31 May. This is when the selected players will play a warm-up match against Zimbabwe from June 3-6 before going to London on 7 June, with the WTC final starting on 11 June.
