Cricket Legend Dr. Desmond Hens, the most respectable in ICC Mains Cricket Committee

St. John, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) is happy to announce that West Indies Cricket Legend, Dr. The most respectable Desmond Hens has been appointed to the ICC Men Cricket Committee, continuing the strong representation of the region on this influential body.
Hens joined the committee after the completion of the tenure of former West Indies all -rounder and honored cricket administrator Roger Harper. The appointment maintains the presence of the West Indies on this prestigious committee and reflects the continuous impact of Caribbean cricket at the highest level of sports rule. Hens, who recently served as a prominent selector for West Indies men’s teams from January 2022 to June 2024, brings his wealth of cricket knowledge and administrative experience in this important role.
The ICC Men Cricket Committee plays an important role in shaping the future of the game as they make recommendations on sports status and rules that affect cricket at all levels. Hens’s appointment ensures that a strong voice continues in these important discussions in West Indies cricket.

The ICC Men’s Cricket Committee operates as a subcommittee of the Chief Executive Officer Committee, and focuses on matters related to the game of international cricket. The body plays an important role in advising various aspects of the game, including cricket laws, sports status, umpiring standards, technology implementation and handling illegal bowling functions.
The committee is headed by a former international cricketer with at least 30 Test matches or national captaincy experience, supported by 12 additional members, including former and current international players, umpires, referees, team coaches, board members, associate nations and representatives of the media. Members serve three years of terms, with the possibility of re -election for three consecutive terms.
About Damond Hens
One legend from the West Indies, Hens played 116 Test matches, captained the team in four of them. He also played between 1978 and 1994 at 238 One-Day International (ODI) for the regional side. He scored 7,487 runs in the tests, including 8,648 runs in ODIs, including 18 centuries and 17 centuries.
One of the most formidable inauguration partnership in cricket with partner Barbadian Sir Gordon Greenies was an integral part of the Hens West Indies team which won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 1979. In June, when he was included in the ICC Hall of Fame in June 2021, his contribution to the game was further recognized.
