Conflict as Rishabh Pant, Virender Sehwag’s blunt ‘role model MS Dhoni’ reminder

The top three of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) recorded a decline in the top three against the Punjab Kings (PBK) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Sunday, expectations were higher expectations to stand up from Rishabh Pant and distribute them to their team. Wicket-keeper Batter, bought for INR 27 crore in the mega auction, has not knocked a single meaningful knock in this campaign, and the match against Punjab was no different. As the pant ends another disappointing outing for Lucknow in the IPL, batsman Virender Sehwag in former India advised him to call someone like Dhoni, express what is burning inside him.
Giving his honest opinion about the poor run of the pants, Pant advised the wicket-keeper batsman to call someone whom he believes, whether he can interact with Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni or someone else.
Sehwag said in a chat on the cricbuzz, “He has a phone, so he should make a phone, so he should call.”
Sehwag also shared his experience, passing through similar thick patches in his career. This was when India’s great Rahul Dravid had never asked him to dig his routine, even if it is not on the field.
“When I was dropped from the Indian team to not scoring enough runs in 2006-07, Rahul Dravid advised me to go back and examine my routine. Not a good mindspace, he has many players to talk,” he said.
“I think Rishabh Pants should go back and watch your old batting videos in the IPL. This makes you confident how you used to build your innings, how you used to play your shots,” said the former Indian opener.
