Claimson’s Ian Shifelin Shifting for football from basketball

After 134 games in a Claimson Basketball Jersey, the power forward Ian shifelin uniform is changing. But not school.
Shifelin announced on Friday that he had taken Tigers football coach Dabo Swine on his team to play a tight end on his team.
The 6 -Foot -8 Shifelin posted a picture on Instagram, which shown the “next chapter”, with a caption, half in a football, half in a basketball jersey.
He was not a major NBA draft possibility – a foreign team or G League was more likely – so they decided to see where football could take them.
“I have just been training for basketball, getting ready for the next level,” Shifelin told ESPN. “Dabo drove me through the opportunity he was ready to give me, and it all looked great, something I wanted to jump. It really provoked my interest in the desire to try, and being able to re -put a clamson jersey, was very seductive to me again. Could not do the opportunity. “
For tigers in 2024–25, Shifelin averaged 12.4 points and 9.4 rebound per game in the previous season. He started all 70 games in the last two sessions.
“I will never rule me from going back to basketball,” said Shifelin. “I will see how these go on the next six months, see how development happens, see if I really like to play football. But I think it’s a good opportunity for the next six months.”
The most famous, Antonio Gates infected to become a Pro Football Hall of Fame Tight and for San Diego Chargers by playing basketball in Kent State. Shifelin told ESPN that he spoke with Indianapolis Colts Tight and Mo-Ali Cox, who played four sessions of basketball in VCU about the occasion.
Swine has clearly thought about the idea for some time. At a news conference in a decline matching with the onset of the college basketball season, he was asked whether shifelin could play football – a game Shifelin left early at high school. The answer was an enthusiastic yes.
“He could play tight end, de-end. Whatever he wanted to play he could play. He would be left an incredible,” Swine said. “I definitely have a place. We have a lot of rave shares ready, if he is going wherever he is going, he wants to pass (after basketball).”
Schifeffelin is in training and is excited to see what the future is.
“Perhaps I will be really good, perhaps I will be really bad. It’s something that was worth a shot. And to be able to re -keep a Cla with Jersey again is really special for me, and this time in Death Valley this time going to be amazing to do so.”
