‘Chase Master’ KL Rahul Stun LSG and Sanjeev Goenka on their Lucknow return home

KL Rahul’s first match against LSG was against LSG since the franchise went after the 2024 season. And he regretted Sanjeev Goenka on his return home.

Delhi Capital (DC) has claimed a comfortable victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekna Cricket Stadium. With the extraordinary efforts of Mukesh Kumar, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul and Abhishek Poral, Axar Patel -led team defeated the home team by 8 wickets and left 13 balls.

KL Rahul pays LSG

KL Rahul was at the center of victory. The former LSG captain was allowed by the franchise after a very public tiff with LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka. For unknown, Goenka dropped Rahul on the field after a widespread loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). When it came to maintaining the players, it was not a shock that Goenka allowed Rahul to go to the IPL 2025 mega auction.

After missing the opportunity to face LSG in Vizag due to the birth of his first child, Rahul made sure to show Goenka to show what he was able to do. In his Lucknow homecoming, Rahul managed to break the 5000-run mark in the IPL and became the fastest to do so, scoring his third fifty of the season and being unbeaten in 4 matches for DC for the second time in 4 matches.

For anchoring back, but with a plan

Karun Nair did his work in a powerplay with a small cameo. And since the target was not very big, only 160, Rahul decided to play the role of anchor. First, he took charge of Abhishek Poral and then allowed Exer Patel to attack. He organized a end to ensure that there was not a collapse.

Chase Master KL Rahul

One should remember that Rahul has changed his T20 view. He is now batting at number 4 and has gone to an aggressive from an anchor. But this does not mean that Rahul will not play according to the situation. He ran from blocks against SRH and then played his innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Now against DC, he is anchor. Three very different innings from the best chaser of IPL 2025.

KL Rahul chased IPL 2025 and said

against Run Balls average Strike rate
SRH 15 5 15 300
RCB 93 53 , 175.47
Mi 15 13 15 115.4
Agitation 57 42 , 135.71
180 113 90 159.29

Mukesh Kumar’s 4-Fer

But Rahul was not the only one who deserved praise. It was some good bowling from DC; He limited LSG to 159. Exer, Stark, Mukesh and Dushmanatha Chamera bowled exceptionally well. The DC captain did not take a wicket, but was economical. Stark got the wickets of dangerous Nicholas Puton, and Chanera sent LSG’s top scorer, Aiden Markram, Packing.

But it was Mukesh who was a standout artist. Pasar raced for his first 4-cicat, claiming the skulls of Michelle Marsh, Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni and Rishabh Pant. To remind you, only 6 wickets fell. So it was Mukesh who banned LSG. It hit it regularly and LSG did not get any speed.
