In the 69th minute, Beatries Zanerto’s target made the Canasus City Current to win their sixth straight match on Friday, with Lorena’s second-half penalty sev, in which NWSL’s morchars traveled from Angel City FC 1-0.
Heroes of Brazilian citizens sent current (11–2-0, 33 points) to the summer brakes of the league with commanding lead in Standing. With the win, the current Orlando went eight points ahead of Pride, losing to Louisville to racing on Friday.
Zanerto scored his fifth goal of the season by following the team’s partner Temwa Chawinga, rescued by Angel City Keeper Angelina Anderson on a breakway. The current forward gathered the ball outside the box, took a step inside it and defeated Anderson to high and right.
Earlier, Lorena kept Angel City (4-3-6, 15 points) away from the scoreboard in the 56th minute, as the Canasus City Keeper peeped for her right to refuse Elisa Thompson’s penalty kick. Angel City Forward earned a chance after Elizabeth Ball was taken down.
Angel City held the ball for most competition and placed the highest scoring team in the league, with 28 goals to enter the match, the first 45 minutes of scorers.
Nevertheless, Census City had the only scoring opportunity against Angel City’s five-box lineup. Two of the current half the first half shots tested Anderson. Kayla Sharple’s header was rescued in the 25th minute, and Angel City Keeper refused Easy Rodrigues 13 minutes later.
Angel City put some pressure in the stoppage time, but the guests were unable to achieve anything on the target. Lorena finished with two savings, while Anderson made six.
After the end of this week ends, NWSL will be inactive by 1 August. The Canasus City will visit Louisville and Angel City will visit Seattle that day.
