Cash-Rich BCCI for funding India’s Olympic dream, 2-3 games for funding: Report

BCCI LA 2028 can fund 2 or 3 games at specific centers in preparation for Olympics
The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is open to the financing of more sports to carry forward India’s Olympic dream. The Indian Cricket Board is the richest in the world and cricket is assisting other sports to reach the same heights as cricket has done. According to reports, BCCI can adopt 2-3 more sports and funds and develop players in a bid to increase India’s Olympic possibilities.
BCCI for the development of 2-3 Olympic Games
According to a report by the Indian Express, the BCCI recently expressed its interest in the scheme of the Sports Ministry for the establishment of sports centers across the country. After a disappointing show at the Paris Olympics, the Government of India has carried on its efforts to ensure better results. The quadruple incident goes to Los Angeles in 2028, and IOA has carried forward its preparation.
The report stated that along with BCCI, the major corporate houses and some of the PSU Olympic training centers are interested in financing. Each center will be dedicated to a specific game. While India’s Sports Authority (SAI) has 23 centers across the country, only 3 are dedicated to specific sports. BCCI has a recent expertise in the department that has established the new National Cricket Academy Complex near Bengaluru.
The Ministry of Sports has planned to create several centers where 100-200 athletes are identified. They will then training and rehabilitation to according to their needs with training and rehabilitation from one Olympics to another.
“Today, the Sports Minister met with 58 corporates. He expressed his interest in such an initiative. The BCCI choice is ready to take care of all the expenses of two or three sports,” The source said while talking to the Indian Express.
BCCI target for Odisha like success?
Hockey India’s participation with the Odisha government saw a change in the fate of the team over the years. Struggling for sponsorship, the Odisha government became a partner, and the result is to see. Not only did Odisha provide financial assistance, but the state created a infrastructure to support the game. It is now the country’s hockey capital. All this came when the men’s team won bronze at the Paris Olympics.
BCCI will expect similar returns. The Indian Cricket Board is not a stranger for the Indian Olympic Association for financially chipping. Prior to the Paris Olympics, the BCCI promised Rs 8.5 crore for the preparation of the event.
“BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has expressed interest in developing Olympic training centers for the government without any cost. There are sports like baseball which are similar to cricket and BCCI can do great work there,” The source added.
Unlike Odisha, BCCI investment, however, is likely to be targeted in the center and athletes. The Indian Cricket Board has changed how the cricketers are taken care of. Players often rehabilitate under the best-in-class employees, and the performance methods are updated to maximize performance. Such expertise will be invaluable to the Olympian of India, which supports its preparation for Los Angeles.
