The July 31 trade time limit will grow when the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday launched a three-game series against rival Chicago cubs.

The Chicago National League takes the Central to four matches at Millvauki Breves in second place, while St. Louis Division has a 5 1/2 game out and the third NL sits in three-way tie for wild-card spots.

The cub completed the three-game sweep of the Cleveland Guardian with a 1-0 win on Thursday. Matt Shaw gave a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th innings to help Chicago for the sixth time in the last eight matches.

“It’s just so fun,” Shaw said in a postgame interview. “We have a great team, and it’s great.”

St. Louis gave a day’s time on Thursday after Pittsburgh Pirates closed in three consecutive games.

“The series is obviously disappointing, but it’s just a small blip on the 162 (games) radar,” said St. Louis’s second baseless Brendon Donovan said. “So, is it disappointing? Of course. But they defeated us. They are playing good balls. We were playing good balls and they stopped us, so we are in Chicago.”

The Friday series opener has a pair of right hand as Miles Micols (4-5, 4.76 ERA) of the Cardinals, which faces Colin Ri (5-3, 4.37) of Chicago.

The 36-year-old Mikolas on Saturday conceded six runs in four innings during no-nine against parents.

Micolas, who owns 6.90 ERAs with 43 hits in 30 innings in its last six beginnings, emphasized the importance of the series with the trading deadline.

“To know if this series runs well, you are probably in a position where you want to make that good hard push,” he said. “And if things are not right, you can be one of those teams who are looking to bring up the youth. Certainly can go in any way. … Each game seems a little more important.”

The Nico Hornear is 13-for-33 (.394) and Ian Hap against Micolus is 13-for-40 (.325), with a 23-year career games (21 Starts) vs. 6-6 with 3.17 ERA in the cub.

Ri, 35, gave two runs in five innings in a 12–3 win over Houston Astro on Saturday. During his previous beginning, he bounced back after giving four homes, 11 hits and seven runs in 5 1/3 innings against Seattle Meriners.

Nolan is 1-for-10 against Aranado Ri, which is 1-3 with 4.37 ERA in nine career games against St. Louis.

Two National League will start in the all-star game in Atlanta on July 15 in Chicago. The center fielder Pete Crow-Armestrong received the honor in his second full session with Chicago. He is batting. 265 with 21 Homeers, 64 RBI and 26 stolen bases.

“Of course he is more than expectations,” said Cube’s manager Craig Counsel. “He is a wonderful season, and we are all happy for him that he has got this recognition. It is really fast.”

Crow-Armystrong Right Fielder will join the all-star game by Kyle Tucker, who has been named a starter for the first time in his career. A four-time all-star is batting.
