Tampa Bay Lightning Forward Brandon Hagel received a one-game suspension from NHL on Friday, a day after Florida Panthers captain Alexander Barkov was injured.
Hagel received a five -minute intervention fine after taking Barkov out on the 9:51 mark of the third period on Thursday night in Tampa. Barkov did not return to the game.
In a video about the decision, the NHL player the security department said, “Long after the cooking, the hagel is loaded and checks a high, hard body that contacts Barkov on Barkov. It is intervention. It is important to note that Berkov is not in possession of the game and therefore is not eligible to investigate in any way.
“While we understand Hagel’s argument that he is coming near the drama as Barkov will play, on Onas Hagel, the player he is killing is eligible to investigate.
“Here, Barkov is not eligible to hit, and Hagel still deliberately examines a highly fierce body, which is with enough force for an unheard rival to complementary discipline.”
The panthers won 2–0, with a 2–0 lead in the seven-eastern conference, which was in the playoff series in the first round of the first round. Florida extended 1–0 at the time of Hagel’s penalty and added an empty-network by Sam Bennett in the last second.
The game 3 is scheduled for Saturday afternoon as the series turns into sunrise, Fla.
Hagel, 26, has not recorded any points in this series. He determined the height of the career in Gol (35), aid (55) and points (90) and played all 82 games in the regular session.
