Bob Cowper, the first batsman passes to hit the Test triple century in Australia, passes

Bob Cowper, who was the first batsman to hit a triple century in Test cricket on Australian soil, died on Sunday at the age of 84 after a fight with illness. He is alive by his wife Dale and daughters Olivia and Sera. Cowper was a very talented left -handed batsman, famous for playing his elegant stroke, his patience at the crease and his ability to collect big scores for Australia. The most important moment in his career in 27 tests was a 307 knock against England in 1966, the first triple century in the longest format of the game recorded in Australia, as it also helped the hosts to maintain ashes.

In the 27 Tests played from 1964 to 1968, Cowper scored 2061 runs, including 48.16, including five centuries, on an average of 48.16 runs, before deciding to move away from international cricket at the age of 28 to carry forward a commercial career.

For Victoria, Cowper played 83 first -class matches to contribute significantly to his home state in a successful era. Cowper later served as an ICC match referee and was a reliable advisor to many people in the game. In 2023, he was awarded a medal of Australia’s order for recognition for his services for cricket.
