Big name, no game – IPL 2025’s five biggest flops

It has been an attractive 18th edition in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has a lot of plays, both, both on and outside. The tournament resumed on 17 May after 10-day gap due to political tension between India and Pakistan. While the season has some memorable performances, there have been some big players who have not been up to their reputation and failed badly this year. From Rishabh Pant to Glenn Maxwell to Jake Fraser – Macgurak, Mohammed Shami to Rachin Ravindra – we see five stars who have not twinkled a lot in this edition.

1. Glenn Maxwell (Punjab Kings)

Glenn Maxwell’s IPL Stock took a big hit and continued to split for a second season after the Australian T20 superstar and could score just 48 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 97.95, before a finger injury was dropped from the tournament. Maxwell recorded four singles scores and looked at the sea against spinners this season – he rejected 5 of 6 out of 6 delivery by slow bowlers.

Maxwell also scored a terrible run in IPL 2024, scoring just 52 runs in nine innings at a palette average of 5.77 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. A change in the franchise did not change the fate of the Australian all -rounder.

2. Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants)

Rishabh Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in the IPL auction history! The LSG skipper, however, has failed to distribute and a T20 batsman has a patch that was between 2017-2019 – his peak in the IPL. Pants have succeeded in scoring just 128 runs in 11 matches at a shocking strike rate of 99.22 – it is the lowest strike rate among 67 batsmen to score minimum 100 runs in the season!

Pants have recorded 6 singles points scores this season, while two other outings have also failed. He has produced just an adequate knock (63 in 49 balls) – that too due to losing against Chennai Super Kings. The sluggish rate of pants has put heavy pressure on the middle order of the LSG and is one of the major causes of their invertebrate after a blistering for the season begins.

3. Mohammed Shami (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Mohammed Shami has been one of the last five versions of the tournament one of the great and most vast wickets. In fact, Shami was the highest wicket in IPL between 2019 and 2023 and took a total of 106 wickets in 75 outings at a sensational strike rate of 16.2 in these five seasons.

Shami’s dramatic decline in IPL 2025 has been shown by his new franchise for the poor – Sunrisers Hyderabad – by the last season finalist. Experienced Indian pacers have taken 6 wickets in 9 matches on an average of 56.17 in the competition, while very expensive – Shami has been killed around the park and its economy rate is 11.23 runs per over. Pesar has been reduced so much that he was released from SRH from playing Xi for one or two matches.

4. Jake Fraser-Makegurk (Delhi Capital)

Jake Fraser McGark was one of the bright lights of the revolutionary IPL season last year, when he scored 330 runs in just nine innings in the shocking strike rate of 234.04 – this was the highest strike rate in the tournament among all the batsmen who scored a minimum of 100 runs!

However, cricket is a great level and Fraser-Mackgurk has learned that the tough route in IPL 2025. He scored just 55 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 105.76 for Delhi’s capitals before being demolished from Xi. Interestingly, the young Australian sensation attributed to five of his six dismissal with bowlers this season.

5. Rachin Ravindra (Chennai Super Kings)

IPL 2025 was considered a big success season for Rachin Ravindra – T20 batsman. Unfortunately, the New Zealand star will need to wait a bit for Chennai Super Kings after a disappointing season with the bat. Ravindra scored just 191 runs in 8 innings, with just one fifty-plus score for his credit. With the exception of scoring 65 out of 65 not out in 45 delivery of CSK against Mumbai Indians in Chepuk, the left -handed person had nothing to write a house.

Ravindra had made lump sum failures while failing to convert lump sum failures into three other people in four innings. Interestingly, Ravindra scored his trouble against this season by scoring 107 runs in this season to score 87 balls more than an average of 21.4 and a strike rate of 123 against Fast Bouler.
