Beyond India series, ECB Sachs data analysts, Brendon McCullum to rely on the intestine: Report




The England and Wales Cricket Board have sacked their data analysts Freddy Wilde and Nathan Lemon, wanting head coach Brendon McCullum weeks before the Test series against India, wanting more emphasis on the spirit and intuition of the intestine. England’s new World Test Championship cycle begins with a five-match series against the Indian side, which begins in Headingly on 20 June. Daily Telegraph said, “Two senior England cricket analysts, Nathan Lemon and Freddy Wilde are leaving the set-up in a step that states that the national side will give less emphasis on data moving.”

“Lemon and Wild-England senior data analysts and white-ball analysts are reducing their participation with two national teams respectively.

“Neither will England’s white-ball series be included against the West Indies at the end of the month, which is the beginning of the reign of Harry Brook in both limited overs formats.”

McCullum Data-There is no firm belief in the data-which he thinks is more favorable for the T20 format than the long version.

The report said, “England hieves believe that analysis in franchise cricket is more important than international sports, where players have less easily exploiting weaknesses.”

McCullum also feels that the low number of assistant employees also leads to an incomplete environment.

“As part of this approach, England players are encouraged to take more responsibility for their preparation and performance and decreased the number of assistant employees in match days to de-cut the dressing room,” the report states.

In fact, England’s perspective has been unlike India where Rahul Dravid’s era laid more and more emphasis on data.

“While players are always free to consult an analyst, management emphasizes that players should largely rely on their tendency.

“Internal sources working in the IPL and national team believe that franchise teams now use data more prominently than England.”
