Between the dismissal of Abhishek Nair by BCCI, only one India Star, Varun Chakraborty, post for Assistant Coach

Several media reports claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to sack senior national team assistant coach Abhishek Nair, the team’s star spinner Varun Chakraborty has given a position on social media for him. According to reports, India’s fielding coaches T Dileep and Strength and Conditioning Coach Soham Desai have also been removed from their roles after the team’s poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and the alleged dressing room leaks. India faced a 3–1 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and lost the opportunity to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 at Lord’s.
According to reports, after the completion of the Melbourne Test, Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir was not very happy with the performance of the players in the fourth Test and allowed him to tell so.
Speaking at the press conference before the Sydney Test started, Gambhir broke the silence on the reports and said that there were some honest words inside the dressing room. He called “honesty” very important for the team to achieve great things.
“They are just reports, this is not the truth and I don’t think I need to answer any report, to be honest. And there are some honest words. All this can be said. And honesty is very important. Honesty is very important if you want to move forward and get some great things,” Gamheer said to reporters.
According to a BCCI source, Abhishek Nair and another assistant coach, Ryan Ten Dock, were subject to the first investigation in early 2025, as the BCCI team was not happy with the clear ‘Kolkata Knight Riders Touch’ in the team management.
Former Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nair and former Netherland cricketer Ryan Ten Doschet joined Team India’s support staff as an assistant coach during the Sri Lankan White-Ball Tour eight months ago. Nair and Dochet also had assistant coaches in KKR and worked with Gambhir.
Under Gambhir’s mentorship, the Kolkata -based franchise won the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final.
Earlier, the BCCI issued a notice stating that the assistant employees of the national side would be removed from services if they complete with three years.
T Dilip and Soham Desai have been released from their duties as they have completed their three -year term with the Indian cricket team. T. Dilip was part of the India squad which won the ICC T20 World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy this year.
