Andy Flower added another feather to his cap after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their maiden IPL title on Tuesday. RCB had not won the trophy in 18 years and it was under Flower’s reign as head coach that the Bengaluru-based franchise ended their drought. The RCB success is the latest in a long list of honours for Flower, including a T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, a PSL title and Ashes among others.

Andy Flower: Serial winner ends RCB jinx

7 coaches tried and failed to end RCB’s wait for an IPL title. Enter Andy Flower. The former Zimbabwe captain was no stranger to the IPL, having coached both Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants before moving shop to RCB ahead of IPL 2024.

Flower has developed a reputation as one of the best coaches in cricket. He started his career with England, being the head coach for 5 years. England won the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2010, while defeated Australia in Australia in the Ashes. England became the No.1 Test team during his stint, also winning 2-1 in India.

Following a blip, Flower turned to franchise coaching with great success. The Zimbabwean won the Abu Dhabi T10 with the Maratha Arabians in 2019. He followed it up with a PSL title for the Multan Sultans in 2021. In the inaugural Hundred, his Trent Rockets side lifted the title.
