Ben Stokes Rues missed in Edgbaston, painful things about India’s first innings

India registered their first win in Edgbaston in 9 attempts, as they defeated England by 336 runs on a large scale.

If anyone had doubts over, how Team India would bounce back at Edgbaston, after a five-wicket defeat at Leeds.. Shubman Gill and boys have scripted the biggest win for the country, outside of home, as they beat England by 336 runs. The stars of the match were — the skipper himself, then pacer Akash Deep and also Mohammed Siraj, who picked up wickets in heaps.

India Secure Mammoth Win Against England

Analyzing what went wrong for them, home skipper Ben Stokes minced no words. He conceded that his team couldn’t capitalise in the crunch situations, and that, after changing plans as well. Stokes: Tough one. Two moments. Having them at 200/5 and not being able to burst them open. And then being 80/5. Was going to be tough to scrape it back from there,” he said at the post match ceremony.

Ben Stokes Not Pleased with Team

He sounded particularly disappointed at not being able to land the knockout punch in the first innings, where India went on to score nearly 600 runs. And that really was the defining moment in the match. “As I just said, having a team 200/5, you’re in a commanding position. But as it got deeper and deeper, the wicket didn’t expect the way we played. It probably suited India more.

“We tried everything, changed plans, but when a team is on top of you, hard to wrestle it back. Shubman had an unbelievable game with the bat. Always a difficult position to find yourselves batting at the end of the day.”
