Seya Suzuki broke a scorer tie in a run in a run in the eighth innings and four Chicago Pichers jointly beat Sinsinati Reds 2–0 on Saturday afternoon to the cub.
Suzuki hit a fly ball in the right field corner with two runners and against a Graham Eshitraft (3-4), which just landed fairly and allowed Ian Hap to score from another base.
The cub then loaded the hideouts with two outsiders before adding an insurance run on Dansbi Swanson’s informed single.
Brad Keller (2–0) took a scorch in the eighth innings to win. Daniel Palansia retired Reds in the ninth for his fifth sev.
Ian Hap, Kyle Tucker and Nico Horner made two hits for each Chicago, who won the fifth time in their last six matches.
Ben Brown chased opener Drew Pomeranz to start the second innings and retire 14 of the first 15 batsmen. Cincinnati did not record her first hit until TJ Fridel sang with two outsiders in the sixth innings.
The cub opted to use a opener in front of Brown, who struggled in the first innings this season. The right -handed batsman responded by allowing a six -score innings with a walk and nine strikeouts.
Cincinnati starter Nick Lodolo matched Brown’s six scorer innings. The cub kept two runners with two outsiders in the fourth, but the loadolo ran out unheardly when he walked out at 3–2.
Chicago increased another threat in the sixth innings, after which Happy hit a leadoff double. Suzuki gave one-each to Lodolo’s Carson Kelly before bouncing in a double play.
Lodolo allowed two hits with two walks and five strikes throwing 94 pitches.
Scott Barlo replaced Lodolo to start the seventh innings and released a leadoff walk to Pete Crow-Armestrong, who stole the second base before taking out the next three batsmen.
Chicago won three double plays and was going to 2 -for -13 with runners in scoring positions.
Cincinnati, who opened a three-game series with a 6–2 win on Friday, had only two Basarner and hit 10 times.
