Unplanned Belinda Benik and No. 8 Seed Iga Swetek upgraded the Wimbledon semi -finals on Wednesday in London with a win in straight sets on Wednesday.

Benakik left the seventh seeded Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) and Swiyatek left 19th seed Russian Liyudmila Samsonova in 6-2, 7-5 Grass-Cort Quarterfinals.

Belarus’s No. 1 Seed Aryana Sabalenka will take America’s No. 13 Seed Amanda Anisimova in the other semi -finals of Thursday.

Bankik, 28, needed two hours and seven minutes to end 18 -year -old Andreva, and match his deepest part at a Grand Slam event. Switzerland natives lost only in the 2019 US Open in the other major semi -finals.

“I’m just speechless, honestly,” said the benik

The two players served only once, and ended with more winners (35–20) and more unexpected errors (37–24). Bankik proved to be better in tiebreaks, however, took a 3–1 lead in the first and a 4–1 lead in the second set.

In April 2024, a daughter is making her comeback on the WTA tour after giving birth to Bella.

“I am very proud of, really. My whole career, I didn’t say much to myself, but after being Bella, I really say it to myself every day,” the benik said. “We are just enjoying life on a tour with Bella, traveling. It is beautiful to make these memories together. And of course, great to play great, but for me, it’s a bonus. I am usually happy to be able to play again again.”

Swetech made it in the Wimbledon final final for the first time. The five-time Grand Slam winner improved 8–1 on the grass this year, which reached the poor Hombberg final last month.

“I, of course, feel that I really worked hard to progress on this surface,” Swetek said. “So this year, I think I can just work with it and work with me. I will just keep doing this.”

She is the first Polish woman to score Wimbledon semi -finals since Agnizka Radwanska in 2015 and becomes the fourth active player to reach all four Grand Slam semi -finals with Sabalenka, Victoria Azranka and Karolina Pliskova.

24 -year -old Swiyatech saved eight out of 10 break points and served Samsanova five times. Samsanova made five double blames and finished with 38 unexpected errors – more than 14 sweets.

Samsonova proceeded 4–2 and 40–0 in the second set before Samsonova came out of steam and leveling 5–5.
