New Delhi: BCCI confirmed places for India’s White-Ball Home Series against New Zealand in January 2026 during a 28th Apex Council meeting held on Saturday. With international stability announcements, BCCI also approved the 2025–26 domestic calendar, which will close with the Dalip Trophy on August 28, 2025, and end on 3 April 2026 with a senior female inter-zonal multi-day trophy.Domestic season 2025–26 major highlights:
- The Duleep Trophy and Senior Women’s Challenger will now have the facility of six zonal teams selected by zonal selectors, aligning with historical traditions.
- A new plate group group is restructured in all age categories. The lower six teams of the previous season will compete in the plate group.
- Publicity and allegations are updated to the rules, in each season only one team runs between the elite and the plate groups.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Male T20) And Senior Female T20 Trophy will now facilitate a super league stage instead of knockout directly to allow more balanced competition. - Most of the major tournaments, such as Vijay Hazare Trophy and men’s U23 states, will adopt a trophy, a 4 elite + 1 plate group model. In the U16, U19, and U23, junior and women’s tournaments will follow a 5 elite + 1 plate group system.
These widespread changes are designed to increase competition, increase tournament formats and promote balanced talent development in Indian domestic cricket.
