Welcome to our special section, DRS or daily review system. In this, Insidesport will provide you with top cricket stories a day in advance, which you must have missed the movement of your busy life.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the right call by neglecting Shreyas Iyer in India’s Test squad for England, according to a former spinner. Shubman Gill needs to prove his worth as a Test batter before the captain, says a former India head coach. Sai Sudharsan doesn’t have the right technique for England. Those are his former coach’s words, by the way.

Punjab Kings have qualified for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 1. There might be a new Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach and it might be Suresh Raina. Speaking to CSK, money may be a reason why MS Dhoni isn’t retiring.

Shreyas Iyer, not fit for England

Monty Panesar believes that BCCI was right by not including Shreyas Iyer in India’s Test squad for England. The spinner thinks that Shreyas is a very good player but in subcontinent conditions. But if he travels to England, he’ll be ‘found out’. This argument actually holds up. Shreyas has played 3 matches outside of Asia in Test cricket and averaged just 15.

Shubman Gill needs to prove himself

Legendary leg spinner Anil Kumble feels that newly appointed Indian Test captain Shubman Gill needs to prove himself as a Test batter before he proves himself as a skipper. Gill has an underwhelming record, averaging just 35.05. And it gets much worse in England. So for Kumble, he’ll need to first step up with the bat and then worry about captaincy.

MS Dhoni “recovering money for CSK”

Former Indian fast bowler Atul Wassan reckons MS Dhoni isn’t partly retiring from the IPL due to his worth as the face of CSK. Without him, the brand value of the franchise takes a major hit. And we all know how attached he is to CSK. That’s why for the sake of the franchise, Dhoni isn’t hanging up his boots.

DRS 6

Sai Sudharsan to struggle in England?

Sai Sudharsan’s former Tamil Nadu coach, Sulakshan Kulkarni, thinks that the left-arm batter needs to improve his technique before heading to England or he’ll struggle. Kulkarni says that Sudharsan had issues against the moving ball and has the bad habit of prodding at balls pitched outside off, both of which are recipes for disaster in England.
