BCCI introduced the new rule before the IPL 2025 playoffs – you have to know everyone

Ahmedabad will host the final of the Indian Premier League with Qualifier 2 on June 3, while Mulanpur will stage two play-off games this month, the BCCI announced on Tuesday. Keeping the monsoon in mind, BCCI has shifted the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad to Lucknow in Bangalore on May 23. The last match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was washed away. Hyderabad and Kolkata were to host the play-off as per the original dates, but the IPL schedule was revised in view of the India-Pakistan military struggle which stopped the program for a week. The BCCI has also taken into account the monsoon season before taking decisions at places. The BCCI said in a statement, “The new places for the playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters.”
Extra time for the remaining matches extended to 120 minutes
BCCI has also increased extra time to complete the matches from the current one hour. Steps have been taken in view of the unexpected weather.
Previously, the extra time of 120 minutes was only reserved for the play-off, not for the league games.
The statement said, “Similar to the playoff stage, an additional one hour will be allocated for the game position for the remaining matches of the league stage, which will begin on Tuesday, 20 May.”
Qualifier 1 and eliminator will be held in Mulanpur on 29 and 30 May, while Ahmedabad will stage qualifier 2 and finals on June 1 and 3. Ahmedabad first hosted the IPL final in 2022 and 2023.
The announcement of the IPL schedule has also ensured that Punjab Kings will play their initial play-off games at home. Punjab Kings have qualified for the play-off for the first time since 2014.
RCB and Gujarat Titans have also played off.
