Australia WTC final is not a favorite in 2025 as Temba Bavuma gives South Africa “50-50 chances”

The South Africa WTC final will take the defending champions to Australia in 2025, starting at Lord’s from 11 June.
The current holder of the World Test Championship Gada is Australia. Therefore, it is easy to say that Pat Cummins and Co. will be a favorite. And why not! Australia consists of Steve Smith, Maarnas Labschen and a fit-firm Cameron Green. His deadly speed-bouling attack is also back. But South Africa captain Temba Bavuma is not calling Australia a favorite. He is giving a chance of 50-50 to win the WTC final 2025.
South Africa entered the WTC final as a wild entry in 2025, defeating all obstacles. Yes, many people can argue that they have not defeated any difficult team to go to the final in Lord’s. But the fact is that they are in the final. And Bavuma is once again looking at the prestigious mace, even if there are no test superstars in the team.
“We don’t have superstars. We do not have the wealth of the experience that Australians have, but we have found a group of people who are super firm to ensure that the results are in our favor. Temba Bavuma told ESPN Cricinfo.
biggest challenge
Although many people would like to call him Chokers, South Africa has been one of the most consistent teams after India and Australia. South Africa World Cup 2023 semi -finals and T20 World Cup 2024 reached the finals. While they lose both, Protiaz now has a chance to amend the mistakes in the WTC final. Bavuma knows that this will be his biggest challenge as the people of South Africa have been waiting for an ICC title since 1998 when they won the ICC Champions Trophy.
“This will probably be the biggest thing of my career. I want to play Test cricket, so now I have a real opportunity to stay in the Test final, but also to lead the team. I don’t think it becomes bigger than this. It becomes bigger than this. It becomes bigger than winning it clearly. It becomes bigger than winning. Temba Bavuma said.
Under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma, South Africa has not yet lost a Test match. While this will promote his confidence, Bavuma has not faced Australia as the first captain. Even on the head-to-head, Australia have won 54 matches in 26 in 101 matches in 26 matches. His last victory came against Australia in 2018 under the shadow of the Sandpapjet scam.
Now, South Africa will have to do it again. And if they do this, Temba Bavuma will become immortal.
