The day began with South Africa at 43/4, and although Temba Bavuma (36) and David Bedingam (45) put a brief resistance of 64 runs together, it was Australia captain Pat Cummins who stole the show. Alex Kerry and Mitchell Starc then set up an important eighth wicket stand of 61. Kerry’s composition was 43 important, but he fell into Rabada just before the stumps. Stark remained unbeaten on 16 and when Marco Jensen dropped a Citter in the final of the day, it was lucky to survive.
The leadership of Australia may already be decisive, but South Africa must believe that quick wickets on day 3 can still keep them alive. The pitch has offered bounce and seam, but not excessive – question both sides about batting techniques.
Earlier, Cummins’s furious exploded through the lower order of South Africa, claiming the last five wickets for only 12 runs. His dismissal of Bavuma, Verenne, Jansen and Rabada in quick succession underlined his mastery in favorable conditions. South Africa’s innings fell from 126/5 to 138.
Australia’s approach to constructing on its thin First-Pari of 74 was aggressive but flawed. LBW fell for the Bu Webster, her first panties top scorer, NGIDI, while Maarnas Labschen and Steven Smith also ended without being converted.
Despite the massacre, Australia may increase the profit of 218 runs in 3 days. Nevertheless, with just two wickets in hand, the margin remains thin for error. The South African batsmen wait for the final Act to catch cricket before the baton passes.
