ATP roundup: Carlos Alkaraz won London opener

Spain’s top seed Carlos Alakraj won the 14th consecutive matches this year, with a 6–4, 7-6 (4) win over Australian Adam Walton in the first round of the HSBC Championship at Queen Club in London on Tuesday.

Alakraj fired Walton before 33 winners and 10 aces, a late replacement for Spain’s Ellajandro Davidovich Fokina (disease). World No. 2 Alakraj led the ATP Tour with 38 wins and four titles this year, including Italy’s dramatic five set win at the No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the French Open final on June 8 and the victory on sinner in Rome final on 18 May.

Arthur Rindekarnech, who is a French lucky losing, claimed a fight with the sixth seed Ben Shelton with 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4), and Jiri Leheka of the Czech Republic excluded Australia’s 6-4, 6-2 to fifth seed de Mineur. Italy’s World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated the house favorite Yanik Hanfman 7-5, 6-3 after losing to Alakraj in the French Open final in their first match and defeated 6-3 in the first round in Germany.

The defending champion of the event, top seeded sinner won 84 percent of his first serial points (37 out of 44), increased 10 aces and saved both brake points.

Russia’s fourth seed Andre Rubwev more than 6-3 in the Austrian qualifier Sebastian offer 6-3, 62 minutes, and the seventh seed of the Czech Republic, Tomas Machak reduced the lucky loser of the Netherlands to the lucky loser Jong Jong 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
