ATP Roundup: Brit Jacob Fernley harasses early in Eastbourne

Jacob Fernley of Great Britain needed just 65 minutes to take the Italian fifth seed Flavio Coboli in England on Tuesday in England.

Fernley, who finished 51st in the world, won four ATP Challenger Tour titles last year, but remains looking for his first ATP tour win. He reached the quarter -finals at the Queen Club in London last week and asks for more in his country this week. On Tuesday, he won 25 out of 35 first-service points (71.4 percent) and changed 5 out of 9 break-point opportunities.

Portugal’s number 8 Seed Nuno Borges was on the same path as a coboli before winning the British Wild Card Jack Pinnington Jones 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Lucky losers of Great Britain Billy Harris and Jenson Brooksbi advanced in straight sets. Marcos Giron, Reilly Opelka and Australian James Duckworth also moved to Round 2.

Mallorca Championship

Canada’s number 6 Seed Gabriel Dialo fired 10 aces and a challenge from Serbian Laslo Dazer 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in a second round of action in Mallorca, Spain.

Dialo advanced to face Dutle fourth seed Talone Griexpur, which is 7–5, 6-4 winners on qualifier Ethan Quin. Dialo’s Conscience, No. 2 Seed Felix Ogar-Agar-Agar-Agar-Augrusime, was an easy time to beat Arthur Rinderken of France 7-5, 6-3. In the quarter-finals, he will face Serbia’s Hamad Madejodevic, who saved 6 out of 7 break points in his 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4) victory over Roman Safiulin, Russia.

In the final matches of the first round, Spanish seventh seed Roberto Botista Aguta raised Argentina’s Tomas Martin Achherry 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 last, while qualifier Brandon Holts and Australian Bernard Tomm also moved to three sets.
