Aryana Sabalenka wins two tiebreakers to reach Madrid Open Semiis

Ukraine’s Marta Costux on Wednesday forced World No. 1 Aryana Sabalenka in a tiebreaker in both sets of his Mutua Madrid Open Quarterfinal, but the Belarus top seeded Sabalenka 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7).
Sabalenka required two hours, 32 minutes to subdue the 24th seed Costux as he won only four more points (110–106) on the soil. He had to deal with a brief rains delayed during the second set tiebreaker-waiting for 5-4 to close the back of the back. Sabalenka once saved a set point and found a way to reject and reinforce the play once.
“I think the end of both sets was very difficult,” said Sabalenka. “I think the whole match, I was handling myself due to circumstances. It was not about tennis, it was just the way you can handle yourself and the way you can focus on yourself. That’s what I mean by I handle myself.
“Because I think anyone in those situations can win, so it is nothing about tennis.”
The Sabalenka will face 17th seed Elina Switolina in the semi-finals as the native of Ukraine required just 52 minutes to take out Japan’s Mouka Uchizima 6–2, 6–1 at the WTA 1000 event.
In the other semi -finals, there will be a performance between Poland’s No. 2 Seed Ega Swetek and No. 4 Coco Goff. Swiyatech struggled in the first set of his quarter-final match against the fifth seeded Madison Keys-three of the four brake points lost to lose-6, 6-3, 6-2.
“Honestly, it was one of the most strange matches played by me,” Swetek told the crowd after his match. “I don’t feel like this [the first set] Was it bad I felt the ball well – it just went super tall. I tried to play it a little shorter and with some mistakes by Maddy, the speed turned to the end. ,
Goff did not have an easy time with Russia’s No. 7 Seed Mirra Andreva. The first set rally 5–4 behind, 21-year-old American fought two set points and held a rally to claim a 7–5, 6–1 victory over 18-year-old Russian. His joint age of 39 made it the youngest matchup in the WTA 1000 quarter -finals since the 2009 Indian Wells tournament.
If they take care of business in Sabalenka and Swiytech semi, they will meet for the Madrid Open title for the third consecutive year. This will be the first time the WTA has introduced the Tier I tournament in 1990.
