“Any player of that caliber …”: PBKS coach praised Shreyas Iyer’s batting vs. Spin

Beyond his major encounter with Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings spin-bouling coach, Sunil Joshi praised captain Shreyas Iyer for his improvement against pace bowling this season. Addressing the media before the match, who will first look at Shreyas Iyer after the visit of the Eden Gardens, as he led him to the IPL 2024 title and was not retained, Joshi also shared his insight on the players’ forms and the team’s strategy. Joshi began accepting the return of Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who took four wickets against Knight Riders in his first encounter in New Chandigarh.

“I think the Eutter is the most wicket-taking in IPL history. There is no need to remind big players that they are able to do. They can always create a difference. It is confidence and bowling in the right areas that help them perform firmly,” he said.

The spin-bouling coach was also asked about Captain Shres Iyer, who helped KKR to win his third IPL title last year, and improve his improvement while playing spin bowling.

The coach said in response, “If you look at Shreyas’s contribution in the last 8-10 months, it has become more consistent to play against the Champions Trophy, not only against fast bowling.

He said, “For any player of that caliber, you accept every challenge, every ball. I am sure they have done some great work behind the curtain, giving them results. It is very good news and also gives good speed to take forward as a leader.”

Joshi also touched the subject of foreign players and their current form in the tournament. Showing confidence in the players, he said that it was a good game before starting to show successful performance.

Discussing whether there was a possibility of any change in squad or strategy as foreign players, Joshi said, “It’s just a good game, either via bat or ball. Strategically, we need to see which player we are against and how many matches-ups we are. Keeping this in mind.

Punjab Kings are currently fifth in the points table with 10 points in the bag. Kolkata Knight Riders are seventh position with six points out of eight matches.
