Angel City’s Savi King responsible after on-field collapse

The defender of Angel City, Savi King, Los Angeles, was hospitalized after the team fell on the ground during the Friday match against Utah Royals at Los Angeles, later in the evening, the team announced.

Medical personnel operated the cardiopulmonary revival to the king after going down in the 74th minute of the game. He was taken out of the field with an oxygen mask on his face.

Players of both teams gathered in a prayer circle, and the match delayed 10 minutes.

Angel City tweeted the postgame, “Sev was rushed to the hospital by EMS after a medical event on the field. He is responsible and is going through further evaluation. We thank all for their anxiety and support.”

“His family is with him, as we have a medical staff, so he is in good hands.”

Utah’s coach Jimmy Cionnets said Postgame, “In those moments, I am not sure we should have continued the game. … not only them, but also our players were scared. I think it’s not the right situation and not in the right position.

“But in the end we played, and this is a decision that others are making, which is fine. But I think it was a really difficult moment.”

The 20 -year -old Raja has been a starter for Angel City in all eight matches this season. He has no target or assistance and has two yellow cards.

In 2024, expansion Bay FC’s first draft pick (second overall), King played 18 matches and started 12 in the last season for the San Jose-based club. He had two assistance and a yellow card last year.

Native of southern California played for North Carolina University before entering NWSL. He made several performances for the American Youth National Under -17 and Under -20 teams.
