Amidst historically poor start, Galaxy expands coach Greg Vanni

Grag Vanni, head coach of Los Angeles Galaxy, can get relief from his duties after a cruel start for the season, the club signed 50 -year -old for contract expansion.
According to the athletic, the Vanni expansion is for three years through the 2028 season and will make them one of the most paid coaches in MLS-the most among the people who are not even for sports directors. The actual financial terms were not reported.
The club won the sixth MLS Cup title in the history of the club last season despite the missing star midfielder Ricky Puig due to ACL injury. The title began a one -year expansion for Vanni through this season.
Between some roster changes, while the pure lives out, Los Angeles started 0–10–3 this season with a destructive 0–10–3. No MLS Club has ever gone to 13 games to start the season without winning.
As contract expansion, the club appreciated the “vision” of Vanni for the road further.
“Greg MLS is one of the most respected and successful coaches in history and we are excited to continue under his leadership,” said in a release by General Manager Will Kuntz. “While the results of this season have not reflected our standards, it was our decision after the victory of our 2024 MLS Cup and we are confident in the project that we are making with Greg.”
Vanni played seven seasons with Galaxy, started her MLS career with the club from 1996-2001. He played four seasons in France before returning to MLS with FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids and DC United, then completed his game days with Galaxy in 2008.
Vanni took Galaxy to a record of 19-8–7 in a regular season of 2024, which was capted by a run via playoffs, ending with a 2–1 win over New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup final.
He has 54–56–39 records in five sessions as a Galaxy head coach. He had earlier coached Toronto FC from 2014-20.
“I am honored to continue this journey with a club, which matters a lot to me,” Vanni said in a release. “We know that we have not started this season the way we intend, but in the group, in this process, and we believe in what we are building. I am fully committed to my players, my fans and this organization, and I am excited to what is next.”
In addition to signing an extension to Vanni, the club hired Ravi Ramineni for the new role of the director of the quantitative analysis, promoted former midfielder Juninho for the senior advisor to the general manager, and promoted Zack Murshi as the director of team administration and player care.
