Former India batsman and many times IPL winner Ambati Rayudu said that he was surprised by the decision of Titans (GT) of Gujarat that he was given just one over bowling to left hand spinner R Sai Kishore during a seven -wicket victory over Delhi capitals (DC). Last year, when GT played against DC at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kishore bowled in just one over – 19th over due to the presence of left -handed batsmen Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant. On Saturday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, when GT faced DC in one afternoon game, Kishore again bowled in just one over – 20th over, where he scored only nine runs and pulled out the Santosh Sharma.
“It was quite strange. Given the circumstances – it was an afternoon game – you would expect the ball a little grip, especially with the new ball when the seam is hard and slightly elevated.
On ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu said, “He should have bowled at least one over in the powerplay and of course in the middle. He has been his best spinner so far; he is bowling better than Rashid in this competition. There is no point for me.”
Former South African player Mark Boucher, who had also granted coaching to Mumbai Indians (MI), felt with someone as an exer batting while batting above the fifth, meaning that the GT was out of the match-up game and withdrawn the teenager.
