Akash Deep dedicated his 10-cicat race in Edgbaston to an elder sister to affect cancer

Akash Deep has delivered one of the greatest performances by an Indian bowler in the SENA nations. He claimed a magnificent 10-wicket haul, including a 6-fer in the second innings. While Shubman Gill got the ‘player of the match’ award, it was Akash who was pivotal for India’s historic victory at Edgbaston.
In both innings, Akash cleaned up England’s top order. Three of the top 5 in the first and four of the top 5 in the second innings. Even the last wicket of the India vs England 2nd Test was taken by him.
Akash Deep dedicates 10-wicket haul to sister
In the backdrop, Akash was suffering dearly. Having lost his brother and father in a span of 1 year before gaining fame, Akash has shared that his elder sister has been suffering from cancer. In a chat with Cheteshwar Pujara, the fast bowler shared what his family has been going through and that all he wanted to do was bring a smile to his sister’s face.
“I haven’t told anyone yet. My elder sister has been suffering from cancer for the last 2 months. Right now, she’s stable and fine. I think she’ll be the happiest because she’s been through it mentally for the last 2 months. I was playing this match as a dedication to her. I want to see happiness on her face through this match,” Akash told JioStar after the match.
Pujara asked Akash whether he wanted to send a message to his sister. Looking at the camera, Akash said, “Sister, this performance is for you. Whenever I had the ball in my hand, I saw your face. I want to see happiness on your face. Everyone is with you.”
