Michael Bracewell is currently playing for Multan Sultans in PSL 2025. Like Glenn Maxwell, he is also struggling for the form.
With four matches to go to the league stage of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings are at a place upset with Glenn Maxwell. The Australian all -rounder has been dropped from the IPL with a fragmented finger. While Maxwell has scored a bad run with the bat in this IPL, his off-spin has added depth to PBKS bowling department. However, with the IPL 2025 playoffs, Akash Chopra, a former India opener, raids PBKS PSL 2025 and receives Michael Bracewell as a replacement.
“Michael Bracewell is your ready replacement. Go for this,” Akash Chopra commented on Twitter.
Bracewell for Maxwell?
Glenn Maxwell has scored a terrible run with the bat, on an average in 7 innings before 8.00. He could score only 48 runs with a score of four single points and a duck. His highest score was only 30. However, with the ball, Maxwell took four wickets with an economy rate of 8.46. Both the Locky Ferguson and Maxwell refused to go out, Punjab Kings would need a replacement, especially with the playoffs in the scene.
While New Zealand all-rounder, Michael Bracewell, who wants Akash Chopra as a replacement of Maxwell, is undergoing a large-scale recession with the bat, his off-spin will be a bonus.
Bracewell played five matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023, scoring just 58 runs in four innings. But he took six wickets in five innings with an economy rate of 8.63. It can be a valuable addition.

However, the problem is that Bracewell is currently playing in PSL 2025 for Multan Sultans after being unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. While Kiwi all-rounder started well, scoring 44 runs of 17 balls against Karachi Kings, his form took place.
In the next six innings, Bracewell managed 16, 3, 9, 9, 0 and 2, average just 13.83. With the ball, he has taken six wickets in seven innings with an economy rate of 10.27. Prior to PSL, Bracwell NZ vs. Pak T20I was well in the series.
But the real question is: Is PBK printed by Multan Sultans like Mumbai Indians with Corbin Bosch. The South African all -rounder dug up Peshawar Zalmi for MI as a replacement for Lizad Williams. While Bosch apologized for his move, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not take it lightly. The PCB banned the bosch from the Pakistan Super League for a year.
While Mumbai Indians have their footprints in addition to IPL in ILT20, SA20 and MLC, Punjab Kings are not the same. PBK has only expanded the CPL separate from the IPL. Therefore, digging Multan Sultans may not be an ideal option. In addition, PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting is also not convinced about the replacement available with PSL.
“So we’ve really be a little patient. Maxi has been just a few days, the lockie is two or three weeks. And with PSL at the same time, there are not much high quality replacement, to be honest. So we can only take a look with Indian talents and we can be able to fill some younger Indian players.” Ponting said.
